Community Guidelines

Perfriend works because people treat each other decently. These rules apply to every chat, every message and every account.

The basics

You must be 18 or older to use Perfriend. If we believe an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it. Pretending to be under 18 is also banned.

Be the person you'd want to be matched with: curious, respectful, and willing to let people leave.

Gets you a warning or suspension

Insults, bullying, or repeatedly messaging someone who has made it clear they're not interested.
Unsolicited sexual messages. Not everyone is here for that, and most people aren't.
Pushing people onto other apps or socials before any real conversation.
Advertising, selling things, or asking for donations, tips or money.
Spamming, flooding chats, or using bots and automation.
Sharing someone else's personal information.
Creating new accounts to get around a block or suspension.

Gets you banned immediately

Any sexual content involving minors, or any sexual conversation with someone who says they're under 18.
Threats of violence, encouraging self-harm, or promoting terrorism or violent extremism.
Hate speech targeting people for race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or nationality.
Blackmail, sextortion, scams, phishing, or trying to get someone's passwords or payment details.
Sharing or asking for illegal content of any kind.
Attacking or abusing the service itself, including scraping or denial-of-service.

Where the law requires it, we report illegal content and the accounts behind it to the authorities.

How we enforce

Reports from the in-chat Report button are logged with the chat they came from and reviewed by a person. Depending on how serious it is, we warn, suspend for a period, or permanently ban the account. Repeat behaviour escalates.

To report something outside a chat, or anything urgent, use our support form. We read every report; please don't send the same one many times.

Appeals

If you think we got it wrong, send an appeal from the email on your account and tell us what happened. A different person from the original reviewer will look at it. Bans for child safety violations are not eligible for appeal.
