Privacy Policy

Short version: we collect what we need to run chats and keep them safe, we never sell your data, and we don't show ads.

What we collect

Profile: your nickname, the gender you select, and confirmation that you're 18+.
Account: your email address if you save your account, or basic profile info from Google if you sign in with it.
Chats: the interests you enter, who you were matched with, and the messages you send.
Friends and safety: friend requests, blocks and reports you make or receive.
Payments: if you subscribe to Plus, Stripe processes your payment. We receive your subscription status, not your card details.
Support: anything you send us through the support form.
Technical: IP address, browser type and logs needed to run and secure the service.

How we use it

To match you with people and deliver your messages.
To keep Perfriend safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our guidelines and preventing abuse.
To run your Plus subscription.
To answer support requests and fix problems.

We don't sell your personal data and we don't use it for advertising.

What other users see

People you're matched with see your nickname, the interests you share, and the messages you send. They never see your email address. Your gender is used for matching filters.

Supabase: hosts our database and sign-in.
Stripe: processes Plus payments.
Vercel: hosts the website.
Authorities: when the law requires it, or to protect someone from serious harm.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account exists. Messages from random chats may be kept for a limited time for safety review; messages with friends are kept so you can see your conversation. Reports and related records may be kept longer where needed to prevent banned users returning. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data except where we must keep it by law.

Your choices and rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Depending on where you live, you may have extra rights under laws such as the GDPR, PIPEDA or CCPA. To make a request, contact us.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, and local storage to remember your interests on your device. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
